A variety of class options that meet you where you are
These are the umbrella categories of class types I offer. No matter which you choose, the class will be 100% tailored to you!
All experience levels are welcome for all classes.
General hatha classes
These classes follow the traditional hatha yoga structure. We begin with pawanmuktasana (a gentle warm-up sequence), move into asana and a little pranayama, then end with shavasana.
Pranayama classes
These classes place more emphasis upon pranayama (breath expansion) than asana. We will open with pawanmuktasana, move into extended pranayama, then end with meditation.
Meditation classes
These classes place meditation at the forefront. We will start with pawanmuktasana, then practice dharana (concentration). Through dharana we may enter dhyana (meditation).
The dharana portion of the class may vary based upon your preferences. We might concentrate upon a candle flame, a chakra, a mantra, or the breath. In any case, my role is to guide you through the process and help you focus your mind so that you may enter a meditative state.
Anxiety relief classes
These classes prioritize anxiety relief over everything else. I will show you yogic techniques known to soothe the nervous system, helping you to transition from the sympathetic to the parasympathetic nervous system.
These classes do not include pranayama unless requested by the student.
Energizing classes
These classes follow the traditional hatha yoga structure, with an emphasis on energizing asana sequences and pranayama techniques.
Yoga nidra classes
These classes also follow the traditional hatha yoga structure. They focus upon gentle asana sequences and pranayama techniques that promote restful sleep.
It is best to schedule yoga nidra classes within the few hours before bedtime. With that in mind, these classes can be scheduled up until 10pm EST.
Autism-friendly classes
As an Autistic person myself, I have spent many years adapting my yoga practice to this experience. But each person on the spectrum is unique, so let’s create a class that’s best for you.
These classes explore soothing/calming techniques, self-awareness practices, and postures that help with interoception and fine motor skills. Stimming is welcome!
ADHD-friendly classes
I have ADHD, too, so I am well-acquainted with the unique strengths and challenges of this diagnosis. As with ASD, each person is different, and I will be happy to curate a class sequence that works for you.
These classes use yogic techniques known to improve focus without forcing it. They also use guided meditation to encourage imagination and help the student tap into their psychic intuition.
